Ellicott School District 22 Recall Petitions Appear to be Sufficient
August 4, 2011 - Colorado Springs, CO - Yesterday the El Paso County Clerk & Recorder finished reviewing over 900 signatures to recall two Board members of Ellicott School District 22. There were 426 valid signatures for School Board Director Stefanie Dickinson out of 450 submitted. For School Board Director Gary Lake there were 419 valid signatures out of 444 submitted.
I'm proud of my staff and the work that they did in finishing the review in less than a third of the time permitted by law. We will continue to work hard to ensure that this process is conducted in a fair, honest and transparent manner, said Clerk Wayne Williams.
Both office holders have been notified that the petitions appear to be sufficient.
The next step in the recall process is the 15-day protest period. The office holders as well as members of the public have an opportunity to review the submitted petition sections and bring items from the petitions before the Clerk & Recorder for protest. All protests must be filed in writing and under oath or notarized in order to be accepted. The protest period will close at 5 p.m. on August 18, 2011.
