Drivers Should Expect Detours Along Date Street from Siferd Boulevard
Drivers in the Park Vista neighborhood, which is directly south and east of the intersection of Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway should expect detours to be in place along Date Street from Siferd Boulevard for the next several days as El Paso County demolishes and removes 16 dilapidated modular buildings that were placed on private property in that area. The buildings do not conform with County codes and have become an eyesore as well as a public safety hazard attracting criminal activity.
The buildings are being removed by R.E. Monks construction company under contract with El Paso County and pursuant to the terms of a court order giving the county permission to secure the property and remove the illegal structures.
Detour signs will remain in place to restrict traffic through the area as long as the heavy equipment is in use to demolish the buildings and remove a large accumulation of trash and debris on the property.
Under the terms of the court order, the County has agreed to complete the needed clean up within ten days.
