Manitou Springs Construction Impacts for Week of April 9, 2017
On Monday, April 10 and Tuesday, April 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Crystal Hills Boulevard will be closed at the intersection with Manitou Avenue. Motorists will not be able to travel between Crystal Hills Boulevard and Manitou Avenue during this time. Motorists will be detoured to Crystal Park Road via Sutherland Road, where access to Manitou Avenue will be maintained.
Crystal Hills Boulevard at Manitou Avenue will reopen each evening when construction is not occurring.
BUSINESS ACCESS ADVISORY: Utility construction work will be occurring on West Colorado/Manitou Avenue between Ridge Road and the US 24 overpass over the next three months. This construction will necessitate closure of portions of the inner left lanes in both directions along West Colorado/Manitou Avenue while construction crews install new storm and water mains. These temporary closures will impact the ability to make mid-block left turns into businesses across the closed portions. Left turns can still be made at the intersections.
The work area for utility construction will be extended from the Loaf ‘N Jug located at 137 Manitou Avenue to the Manitou Springs sign. The center lanes in this section will be closed with traffic shifted to the outside lanes.
Construction in this segment will be occurring between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for approximately three weeks. As construction proceeds from east to west, it will be necessary to close portions of the eastbound lane and shift traffic around the construction under flagger control. This closure and lane shift is required to allow access for construction equipment necessary for utility installations.
Local eastbound and westbound traffic will be shifted into a single lane on the north side of the road with a flagger in place to alternate westbound and eastbound travel around the construction.
Crossings will be maintained at business locations in this area.
The eastbound lane will be reopened each evening when construction is not occurring.
Detour: Eastbound motorists are encouraged to detour around the construction area using El Paso and Pikes Peak if possible to avoid delays, The detour route can be accessed at Beckers Lane within the construction corridor.
