Colorado Springs, CO, June 12, 2012 – El Paso County is hoping to fund maintenance projects at Bear Creek Regional Park with the help of residents by winning Coca-Cola's third annual "America is Your Park" contest.
Votes determine the $100,000 first place, $50,000 second place and third place will receive $25,000. In addition, Coca-Cola will award $15,000 to one of the parks that receives the most votes in the 4th-25th places.
The County plans to use any funds granted through the contest to maintain Bear Creek Park and to make pavilion, field and other park amenity improvements.
The County is asking all residents to help by voting for Bear Creek Regional Park on the “America is Your Park” contest website.
Bear Creek Regional Park, at last check, was in 20th place with 50,000 votes. You can vote for Bear Creek Regional Park through July 15, 2012. It is easy to become a Bear Creek Regional Park champion! Whether you vote once or 100 times, you can make a difference in Bear Creek Park winning the title of “America’s Favorite Park.”
These recreation grants are made possible by the Coca-Cola live positively initiative and are in collaboration with the National Park Foundation, America’s State Parks and the National Recreation & Park Association.
How to Vote:
1. You can vote online or on your smartphone at LivePositively.com/parks, which will trigger one (1) vote. Search for Bear Creek Regional Park.
2. You can also earn 100 votes for Bear Creek Regional Park, each time you “check in” from Bear Creek Regional Park via Foursquare (it is easy to create a foursquare account). Once you have an account with foursquare, visit LivePositively.com/parks, accept the permissions, and vote. You can vote as many times as you would like.
