El Paso County is asking for citizen input at the concept level for recommendations to improve Highway 105, between Woodmoor Drive and State Highway 83. The project Highway 105 team will hold the third in a series of public meetings at the Monument Academy on Tuesday, July 10 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monument Academy is located at 1150 Village Ridge Point in Monument.
County transportation planners will be joined by the Colorado Department of Transportation to provide an update on improvements to the SH 83/Walker Road-Highway 105 intersection. The Highway 105 Corridor Study was initiated in the summer of 2011. The study is scheduled for completion this summer followed by publication of the Corridor Preservation Plan, including conceptual improvement recommendations, cost estimates, and phasing.
Over the past year, the Highway 105 Corridor Study has examined the need for capacity, mobility, and safety improvements on the Highway 105 project segment, as well as prioritization, design implementation and available funding.
The open house Tuesday, July 10, 2012 will provide informational displays of preferred improvement recommendations for review and comment. A summary presentation addressing the study process for Highway 105 Corridor Study, as well as preferred improvement recommendations, planned schedule and next steps will be presented at 6:00 p.m.
The public is encouraged to provide additional input about the corridor’s problems and ideas for its improvement for the team’s consideration, and to comment specifically on the improvement recommendations and phasing that have emerged from so far from the year-long effort. Similar Open Houses were held in August 2011 and February 2012.
Additional information about the study is available on the project website (www.105corridor.com ) which supports on-line comment submittal.
