Through partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the City of Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management, and the Colorado Springs Marriott, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office wishes to announce a COMMUNITY MEETING scheduled for July 23, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Colorado Springs Marriott has donated the space and is located at 5580 Tech Center Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80919.
Key discussion items presented during the meeting will include area risks as a result of the Waldo Canyon Fire (floods, landslides, rock falls, and mudflows), the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and a demonstration of a relevant interactive map which is available to the public. In addition to the agencies mentioned above, members from the City of Colorado Springs Engineering Division, Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will be available to answer questions as needed.
