PHONE SYSTEM OUTAGE IN THE MONUMENT, PALMER LAKE AND GLENEAGLE AREAS
An outage affecting hard or landline phone systems has occurred in the Monument, Palmer Lake, and Gleneagle areas due to damage to a Century Link fiber optic cable. The outage has impacted the ability for residents in those areas to dial 911 or make other calls on hard or landline phones. However, a temporary solution is currently being worked and will be implemented shortly which will allow residents to use their hard line phones to dial 911 and those calls will be routed to Monument Police Department. The Sheriff’s Office is sending dispatchers from our Communications Center to assist with inbound telephone calls at that location. It is not yet clear what other areas may be affected.
Cellular service is not affected by the outage so residents may use cell phones to dial 911 if needed until the damage is repaired or the temporary solution is in place. If possible, residents can also report emergencies directly to the following law enforcement or fire department facilities.
