SHERIFF TERRY MAKETA RECEIVES UTILITY TERRAIN VEHICLES TO HELP COMBAT WILDFIRES FOLLOWING EL POMAR DONATION
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Division has received two Utility Terrain Vehicles following the generous $20,000.00 donation the Office received from the El Pomar Foundation on June 21, 2012.
The vehicles will be deployed by the Wildland Fire Crew to support wildfire operations. They will be instrumental in the timely transport of necessary equipment to fire fighters on the fire line and provide enhanced mobility in challenging terrain. Dedicated personnel and proper training and equipment are vital to combat wildfires and this acquisition is just a small part of the equation.
In addition to wildland fire operations, the vehicles will spend time in the field supporting fire mitigation efforts as well. Although no single piece of equipment is the solution for all problems, equipment such as the utility terrain vehicles provide one more option the firefighters can chose from to help them work quickly and safely.
