MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER FOLLOWING DISTURBANCE IN FALCON
On October 1, 2012, at 5:33 p.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shopping center near McLaughlin Road and Meridian Road in Falcon regarding a disturbance where a person may have been struck by a car.
When deputies arrived they found Chandler Saso, a 34 year old male, lying in the roadway at Capel Point and Bierstadt Heights being treated by medical personnel. He was transported to a local hospital via Flight for Life for further treatment. An adult female, Nicole Peterson, was contacted at the scene along with additional witnesses.
It was determined that Ms. Peterson and Mr. Saso had been in an altercation earlier in the day which began at a home in the 7600 block of Capel Pt.; the altercation was over custody of their one year old child. During the initial event, Mr. Saso assaulted and choked Ms. Peterson on more than one occasion which resulted in her losing consciousness. The disturbance continued at the nearby shopping center after Mr. Saso followed Ms. Peterson and the child there.
Mr. Saso took the child after assaulting Ms. Peterson and returned to the home on Capel Pt. Ms. Peterson retrieved the child from the home and entered her sister’s car as a passenger to leave the area. Mr. Saso jumped onto the car and began striking the windshield. He fell from the car while it was moving which caused his injuries.
Mr. Saso has been charged with the crimes listed below and will be held at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center once he is released from the hospital.
Attempted First Degree Murder, class 2 felony
Third Degree Assault, class 1 misdemeanor
Second Degree Kidnapping, class 4 felony
Criminal Mischief, class 2 misdemeanor
