On July 7, 2012, at approximately 11:08 AM, the Colorado Springs Police Department received a call from a citizen reporting observing a possible human body in the Red Rocks Canyon area. Once the presence of a human body was confirmed, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded due to the body being located in unincorporated El Paso County. El Paso County Search and Rescue responded to assist with removing the body due to the terrain of the area.

The report from the El Paso County Coroner's Office confirmed the body is that of 54 year old William Allen.  The Coroner determined Mr. Allen died as a result of asphyxia by hanging and that his death was suicidal.  The El Paso County Sheriff's Office has closed the investigation into this case.
